Yamaha is well known for engines. Yamaha dirt bikes are also popular. They're called off road bikes. They're high quality.
Motocross is a form of off-road that comes from the French. The words motorcycle and cross-country combine in this word. Yamaha dirt bikes do well in this area. These events were first named scrambling by the British. Scrambles are the name given to each individual event. The first scramble was in 1924. The 1930's saw growth in the sport. Street bikes soon were modified and the dirt bike was born.
Street bikes and dirt bikes differ in the suspension. Street bikes tend to be rigid. It would be painful to ride a street bike off road. Off-road riding requires a superior suspension. Riding on a dirt track or in the wilderness can be very bumpy.
Yamaha dirt bikes, like other Japanese motorcycles, began to become supreme in the motocross circuit in the late 1960s. When Suzuki won a world title in 1970, it was the first of many for the Japanese bikes.
Yamaha dirt bikes feature prominently in the Grand Prix of Motocross and the AMA Motocross Championship. These are professional motocross circuits. The AMA season is from May through September. Most Grand Prix events take place in Europe. But events take place in some other parts of the world. There have even been events in Australia.
Those who race Yamaha dirt bikes are generally in amazing physical condition. Their hearts can maintain an accelerated rate for 35 minutes During the season they do this twice each day. It takes a lot of energy and endurance to control a heavy bike on a pounding track.
Yamaha dirt bikes are also used in a relatively new form of motocross called freestyle. That's stunt riding. It's very popular with the fans. One professional biker use a ramp to do a backflip over the fountains at Caesars Palace. That's pretty amazing.
So if you're considering a dirt bike, or have interests in motocross or off-road, consider the Yamaha dirt bikes.
